Well, that was a rhetorical question. We're making slow but steady progress. If I just take Winspiration Day as an example:
This was the announcement of the dream at an event in Baden-Baden in 2006.
These days, many people celebrate May 7.
There are several events taking place in various countries (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), and preparations for Winspiration 2012 are already underway on different continents.
So today I’d be more inclined to say that if we see ourselves as the image of God, then perhaps we’re just slow—after all, His mills grind slowly, but they do grind. That’s how we develop, too, even if it’s not always clearly visible to the “human eye.” But life goes up and down; there’s no such thing as a true standstill.
And that’s why I’m certain that we humans learn. Voluntarily? Maybe not. But we do learn. In evolutionary terms, there’s talk of a developmental leap at 10 billion. Very often, once the number of units or cells reaches 10 billion, there’s a “leap in consciousness.”
Since we're on our way to having 10 billion people on this planet, perhaps that's the only reason for this leap in consciousness.
Maybe we don’t always have to understand everything exactly. Maybe we should just rejoice in the fact that we’re evolving—perhaps in the literal sense of the word: unwrapping ourselves to set us free, so that our core becomes visible.
Sincerely
Wolfgang Georg Sonnenburg
