In a movie I once heard Omar Sharif say:
He is poor who has nothing for which he would give up all his wealth!
Have you ever had the sentence in your head: "That can't be all, there must be something more?"
I believe that the desire to experience emotional satisfaction and material prosperity is deeply rooted in all of us. And not "sometimes this, sometimes that", but both combined. Hardly anyone will say on their deathbed: "Oh, if only I had been in the office more often or made a million more!" So I once again asked myself the question: What do I want to trade the time I have left in my life for? What do I want to fill my days with, what do I want to look back on when it's time to go?
After my 60th birthday, I decided to align my life even more consistently with the "upper right" quadrant of purpose. I have often made radical changes in my life, for example giving up my Hamburg office building with its law firm, tax consultancy and financial services provider - along with the life that went with it. Even back then, I was clearly focused on the theme: "This can't be it!"
I'm all for material wealth, but I've realized in my own life that even great wealth doesn't make you happy. You can't buy happiness and emotional fulfillment! Money is supposed to make life more comfortable, make many things possible, but it is not supposed to make you happy. And it can't! And can work alone make you happy? Of course not, otherwise 87% of the working population wouldn't be able to get by without an emotional connection to what they do.
Taken together, this explains what I have decided to do: To dedicate the rest of my remaining time more consistently to the topic of purpose and meaning in life, in relationships, at work and in business. And to make more public appearances in order to pass on the know-how and do's and don'ts from my many years of experience as a speaker.
This is how Win Win AG came into being with the annual Brain Trust Mentoring and Coach Training; the non-profit organization Winspiration Day Association to establish the international Focus Day on May 7; and this new Wolfgang G. Sonnenburg website, on which I will write something about the "scope" of Purpose from time to time.
So: Welcome! We will go live in November. Until then, please subscribe to the newsletter, Twitter or Facebook and you will receive all the interesting information that I and other successful people have come across. I will also be presenting new ideas and visions so that all of our lives become more purposeful and profitable!
Here's to good cooperation!
Yours, Wolfgang Sonnenburg
