At the turn of the year, many people make "good resolutions" and plan for the coming year. I could now ask you: what have you planned? But that would be too easy. As you know, the quality of the questions determines the quality of the answers. That's why I ask:
What was the first thing you wrote down in your annual plan? Did you plan your free time first? Or your working time? And the crucial, general question: What is the most important thing for you?
In workshops, I often get the answer that health is the most important thing. Sometimes the answer is also "money" because something is pressing somewhere, and some people say that family is the most important thing.
Think for a moment - what is your answer? Health? Family? Money? If it's health, how much money do you invest in it? If it's family, what is your lifestyle?
All of these three can be affected, and all of them can be restored, albeit perhaps in a different form. You can lose money and get new money, you can suffer badly with your health and get fit again, or lose a family and get a new one.
But the only thing that cannot be restored is time. And time should be the most important thing in your annual planning for 2015.
It is interesting that only very few respond that time is the most important thing. On the contrary, I have often had intense debates because many people say that health is the most important thing. And then I sometimes feel the need to do a test. I say ...
OK, I have a blue and a red pill here. If you take the red one, you'll be super super fit, but you only have 14 days to live. If you take the blue pill, your current state of fitness will deteriorate somewhat, you may have a minor ailment here and there, but it guarantees you will live for another 70 years. Which pill would you like to take?
Is it really so surprising that suddenly nobody wants the red pill anymore? I believe that we all feel how valuable time is, but we don't always act accordingly. Therefore: "Pay yourself first" - with time. Live in the here and now The same applies in 2015: every hour that is gone is gone. Live every moment as if it had meaning - live every day as if it were your last.
Happy New Living in 2015!
